FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

1. How do I know if therapy is right for me?
Therapy can be a valuable tool for anyone looking to improve their emotional well-being, manage stress, cope with mental health concerns, or work through personal challenges. If you’re unsure, scheduling a consultation can help you explore whether therapy is the right fit. I offer a free initial consultation to help us determine whether we’d be a good match.

2. What should I expect during my first session?
In our first session, we’ll talk about your reasons for seeking therapy, your personal history, and any concerns you’d like to address. This is also your opportunity to ask questions about the process. My goal is to create a safe, supportive, and comfortable space for you to begin your therapeutic journey.

3. How long will I need to attend therapy?
The length of therapy varies from person to person. Some individuals find relief after just a few sessions, while others benefit from longer-term support. We’ll work together to evaluate your progress and adjust the plan as needed.

4. Are the sessions confidential?
Yes. Confidentiality is a core part of the therapeutic relationship. Everything shared in session is private, with a few exceptions: if there is a risk of harm to yourself or others, or if required by law. We will review confidentiality and its limits during our first session.

5. How much do therapy sessions cost?
Session fees vary depending on the type and length of the session. I accept several forms of payment, including credit cards. Please contact me for current rates and to learn more about insurance options.

6. Do you accept insurance?
Yes, I accept many insurance plans. I also provide superbills for clients who wish to seek reimbursement from their insurance provider. Please contact me or your insurance company to verify your coverage and out-of-network benefits.

7. How can I schedule an appointment?
You can schedule a session by contacting me via phone, email, or through the online booking system on my website. I will follow up as soon as possible to coordinate a time that works for you.

8. What if I need to cancel or reschedule an appointment?
If you need to cancel or reschedule, I ask for at least 48 hours’ notice. This helps me offer the time to other clients who may be waiting.

9. Can I contact you between sessions?
Yes. You’re welcome to reach out between sessions if something comes up or you need support. I will respond as soon as I’m able. For urgent concerns, however, please contact a crisis line or emergency services.

10. What if I am experiencing a mental health crisis?
If you’re experiencing a mental health emergency, please call a crisis helpline or go to your nearest emergency room. While therapy offers important ongoing support, it is not a substitute for immediate crisis intervention.

11. What should I do if I feel therapy isn’t working for me?
If you ever feel that therapy isn’t meeting your needs, please bring it up with me. We can discuss your concerns, adjust the approach, or explore other resources that may be more helpful.
